Eli Pool, 3, moves handfuls of snow while father Trent shovels outside their South Third Street home on Monday morning. Eli and sister Annabelle, 4, enjoyed the April snowfall, which was measured at better than 10 inches in the region.
At the National Weather Service in Chanhassen, the total snowfall was 16.1 inches; the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport recorded 14.9. Those totals made the Friday through Sunday storm the largest April storm on record. It pushed this winter’s snowfall into the top 10.
The service, as of Monday, predicted a chance of snow and freezing rain in the predawn hours Wednesday, followed by snow during the day. It’s possible another 3 to 5 inches could fall. Wednesday night was predicted to bring a wintry mix. The rest of the week was predicted to bring a warming and drying trend. (Nancy Madsen/St. Peter Herald)
