It looks like the Titan wrestlers have some talented athletes coming up.

As the wrestling season ran down for the Titan varsity, the Tri-City United youth wrestlers got their chance at gold at the Kids’ State Folkstyle meet in Rochester March 9-11.

There were 32 youth wrestlers from Montgomery/Lonsdale, Le Center and seventh and eighth grade junior high who participated in the meet and 12 of them reached the podium.

Two wrestlers took home the gold as first place state champions: Ayden Balma in Novice 63 and Trista Gessler in the Girls Division; and two others brought home silver medals for second place: Alayna Olson in the Girls Division and Robert Bastyr in School Boy 250.

Three Titans took third place including Tucker Skluzacek in Intermediate 56, Caden O’Malley in School Boy 110 and Tegan Determan in School Boy 187.

Marco Reyes was the only Titan to take fourth place in School Boy 130 and Easton Balma (Bantam) and Tavin Holicky (PeeWee) each took fifth place.

Finally, Riley Skluzacek in School Boy 71 and Allen Krenik in Intermediate 59 each took sixth place at the podium.
